As I plodded along on my tractor, I became aware of the beauty of the landscape once again. Moving from Shropshire into the Welsh mountains was just magic. It felt like paradise. I have not seen the English and Welsh countryside so beautiful before. Maybe I had taken if for granted and having the opportunity of a fresh look just made me realise what a stunning country this is. And then a thought took hold of me, which left me restless and excited. We live in such a beautiful world and most people are so precious and delightful – what should we do to preserve both, take care of them, not leave them fall pray to destructive forces. Not everybody has been given the chance to see the world and fellow humans in their beauty. How I wished I could hold on to this experience myself and share it around!
Als ich so vor mich hin zuckelte, wurde ich mir wieder einmal der Schönheit der Landschaft bewusst. Die Fahrt von Shropshire in die walisischen Berge war einfach zauberhaft. Es kam mir paradiesisch vor. So schön habe ich die Landschaft in England und Wales noch nie gesehen. Vielleicht habe ich sie ja für viel zu selbstverständlich angenommen. Die Gelegenheit, sie mit frischen Augen zu sehen, ließ mich erkennen, wie überwältigend schön dieses Land ist. Und dann ergriff mich eine Gedanke, der mich unruhig und erregt machte. Wir leben in seiner so schönen Welt und die Menschen sind so wertvoll und liebenswert – was können wir tun, um beides zu bewahren, zu pflegen und es von den zerstörerischen Kräften in Schutz zu nehmen. Nicht alle Menschen haben die Chance bekommen, die Welt und die Mitmenschen in ihrer ganzen Schönheit zu sehen. Ich wünschte mir so sehr, dass ich an diesem Erlebnis festhalten und es weiterreichen könnte.
